Private Lessons
One-on-one instruction tailored to your needs — from road test prep to skill assessments.
Private lessons can be taken for any reason, but here is a list of six common reasons.
- 1Some may believe that they need a bit more driving time to feel confident and capable on the road after taking their driver education course.
- 2Some may want help in preparing them for their upcoming road test.
- 3Some feel more comfortable using our car because it is already approved and familiar to take their test.
- 4Our car is always inspected and ready to pass a pre-driving check.
- 5Some are not sure if their teen, young adult, or aging loved one is still safe and ready to be on the road. This may cause them to want an assessment of their driver's skills and ability through a private lesson with an expert.
- 6It may be that you are required to have some lessons due to a medical suspension or other similar reasons prior to being reinstated and we can provide you with that as well.
No matter what the reason, we are here to assist you with our expertise and experience.
Cost
$50 per hour. We offer these lessons to anyone who has a valid permit from Maine or other states that Maine shows reciprocity with. Our goal is to help prepare the student to have the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to pass a Maine Driver's License Exam.
Location
Private lessons can start at 1473 Union Street in Bangor or 1476 Broadway in Bangor or at another approved destination. Approved places include Bangor BMV, most high schools located in Bangor, Brewer and within five miles of Bangor. Any private lessons outside of five miles from Bangor will be charged an additional fee of $10 per lesson. Other pick-up points can be arranged on an individual basis with the driving instructor.
All private lesson fees must be paid for prior to start of the lesson. All lessons not cancelled within 48 hours' notice will still be charged the full fee.

Road Exam Car Usage
Warman's Driving Academy offers car use for road exams. The fee for the use of one of our vehicles for your road exam is $100. This must be paid before the use of our vehicle is granted for the day of the test. If you are interested in this option, please discuss with our instructors throughout the course of your lessons.
